First boy is from a royal family and the second one is a simple pauper.

Now I want to tell the story how Prince Edward lives in the Offal Court...
Firstly, John Canty starts to drag poor Edward to Offal Court. The prince tries to get free but he can not do it. Then John Canty gives him a blow with his heavy wooden stick.
Secondly, an old man runs up to them. It is the old priest, Father Andrew, who teaches Tom to read and write and who loves him very much. He wants to stop man's arm, but John Canty is too drunk to understand what he does. His heavy stick falls on the old man's head and the priest falls down on the ground. John Canty hurries away and drags the prince with him.
Thirdly, John Canty comes to dirty room with Edward. There are two girls and two women in it. Edward says that he is Prince of England. John Canty begins to laugh at his words. After that he begins to beat poor Edward. Then John goes to bed and when he is asleep the young girls come to Edward and cover him with rags. They bring him a piece of bread but he isn't hungry. At last he is asleep...

In the morning Prince wakes up from a heavy sleep because somebody is knocking the door. John Canty comes to door and asks:"Who is there?". A voice answers that John has killed a priest Father Andrew. So, he and his family should hurry at this moment. Then family gathers up their few things and five minutes later they run along the dark street to save their life. John Canty holds the prince by the hand and hurries him away from the hause. The prince wants to run away from them.
Soon they are near London Bridge. It is illuminated there. They find themselves among singing, dancing and shouting people. Everybody wants to watch the illumination in honour of The Prince of Wales. So, Edward takes his chance, pulls his hand out of John Canty and runs away. He runs away from this place.
He runs and runs and runs until he finds himself near his father's palace. He tells the guard to open the gates to him, because he is the real Prince. But nobody believes him...

At that time Tom Canty sails down the Thames on the royal barge. The Princess Elizabeth and Lady Jane Grey are sailing with him.
Suddenly the king's messenger appears on the barge. Everybody stops talking and looks at him in surprise. He comes up to Tom and says loudly:
"The King is dead!" All the people who are there, fall on their knees before Tom and shout:"Long live the King! Long live Edward, King of England!"
Suddenly an idea comes to Tom's head. He says in a low tone at Hertford ear: "Tell me the truths: if I give a command,— a command which only a king can give,— will it be obey? Can any man rise and say 'no'?" "Your majesty, nobody can say 'no' to your command! You are the King — your word is law." "Then," said Tom, "let the king's law be law of mercy, from this day. Let the king's law never more be law of blood! Get up from your knees and hurry to the Tower to tell the Duke of Norfolk that he will not die!" Tom's words hear the people who stay near by. When Hertford is leaving there was another shout: "The kingdom of blood is over! Long live Edward, King of England!"

It makes him very sad. He knows he has no father any more and he is alone in the world. The tears run down his cheeks.
Then there is another cry: "Long live King Edward the Sixth!" He thinks he is king now. And he feels proud.
Edward and Hendon come to the door of the inn where Miles Hendon lives. Suddenly they hear a voice:
John Canty is standing before them.
So John Canty leaves Edward alone and goes away.
Edward and his new friend enter the inn and go to Miles Hendon's room.

The little king goes over to the bed and lays down upon it. He is very tired and hungry.
