The sleuths
Today I want to tell you about «the sleuths».
At the beginning of the history/STORY IT is told that in the Big City a man may disappear suddenly and completely.+
And most often private detective agencies don’t find him.The case of Mary Snyder isn’t without interests.A middle-aged man comes from the West to New York to find his sister Mary.His name is Meeks.First of all he learns that his sister doesn’t live in her flat anymore. He decides to refer to the police.One of the policeman advises him to go to the police headquarters and ask them to send a detective.Detective Mullins agrees to help Meeks.Meeks and Mullins meet in the café of the Woldorf.Mr Mullins invents AN add an adS in the local big magazine.Meeks becomes angry.He says that his sister won’t lead/NOTICE on this advert. Meeks takes two bedrooms.The room looks very rich.On the next day Meeks decides to consultShamrock Jolnes, New York famous private detective.
After that he meets Mr Jolnes in the great detective’s apartment.
The green door
This time I HAVE read the story about the green door.
Rudolf Steiner walks along a crowded street in central part of the city. He is a true adventurer. He firmly believes that the most interesting thing might lie just around the next door.
Rudolf is pleasant in appearanceBy daylight he is a salesman in a piano-store. Rudolf sees a giant Negro. Negro IS dresses/D in a red coat, yellow trousers and a military cap. Negro gives Rudolf an ordinary dentist`s card with the dentist`s name and address in it. After that, Rudolf notices tHree words on the card: «The green door».After all this/THESE things Rudolf understands that the Negro has twice selected him out of the crowed. He goes to the building in which, as he HAS understood, his adventure must await him.
In this building he sees a green door and decides to enter. There he notices a small woman which falls swoon. He helps her. And after that he says that she don’t/HASN'T eatEN for three days. Suddenly Rudolf d/Gives her a cup of tea and something to eat. When she had/HAS finished her meal, she begins to talk about her own story.
My aunt is a big woman. We call her a very manly woman. Her husband (my uncle) is a thin and very weak. +
He isn’t A match for my aunt. +
Aunt takes all possible care of him. She makes him take all the medicines prescribed by the doctors, but all in vain. Unfortunately, one day my aunt finds him dead. My aunt is very upset by the death of her poor husband. Some time passed/PASSESAND she decides to move to her big country house in Derbyshire. The servants, most of whom come with my aunt from town, don`t like the sad-looking old place with half-empty rooms. My aunt seems to be struck with the lonely appearance of her house. One evening she sits by her toilet-table and thinks about a rich man. It`s her old friend, which/WHOM she knows since her girl-hood.+
All of a sudden she hears something move behind her. She thinks that it is only the wind. Suddenly she sees one of the eyes of her husband portrait moveS. +
She is in a shock and very scared. She begins to remember all stories about ghosts and criminals.

At the beginning of the story Sherlock looks impatiently at his watch.He asks Watson if he knows something about horse-racing .After that he says that he should like to know something about Sir Robert Norberton. Watson answers that Sir Robert lives in Shoscombe Old Place and he is also A boxer and athlete.+
He adds that people says/SAY that he is a dangerous man. +
That because one day he horsewhipped Sam Brewer.He is a well-known money-lender.Suddenly Watson begins to describe Shoscomble Old Place: Shoscomble Park and the famous Shoscomble stud and training quarters.Sherlock says that he knows the head trainer John Mason.He offers found/TO FIND more information about this place.+
Watson remembers about the Shoscomble spaniels and their owner lady of Shoscomble.Holmes supposes that she is Norberton`s wife. But Watson says that she is his widowed sister, called Lady Beatrice Falder.After that a tall, clean-shaven man with a firm, serious expression comes in.Watson and Holmes sayS that they ARE ready to listen TO men`s confused story.++

On a bright May evening Holmes and Watson discuss their plans for fishing with Mr. Barnes, the innkeeper. Holmes offers the Hull lake. The innkeeper answers that it is a bad idea. He also adds that they may find themselves in the lake before they have finished. He tells that this is Robert`s lake. Suddenly he remembers that someone told him that Sir Robert is/was the sort that strikes first and speaks afterwards. After that the innkeeper lefts/LEAVES them. Sherlock suggests to visiting Shoscomble and trying to get some more information. Holmes says that something happened a week or so ago. And they should to consider facts. He finds out that the brother no longer visits his invalid sister and he even gives away her dog. Watson wondered/s how will they WILL explain the crypt. Sherlock answers that it`s only a hypothesis that Sir Robert has killed his sister. Next morning Sherlock, Watson and the black spaniel walks in/TO the park near the gates. Mr. Barnes has told Sherlock that Lady Beatrice takes a drive at this time of year. And that he wants to ask her carriage driver about something.

Holmes and Watson have nothing further to do, so they decide to go fishing. And at the same time to catch some fish for their supper. After supper they go out along the same road as in the morning. A dark figure is awaiting them near the park gates. It is their London visitor Mr. Mason. Mason holds them to the crypt. The crypt is located a quarter of a mile from the house. They come to the melancholy place. Then Holmes lights his lantern which thrOWS its light upon walls and coffins. Holmes aks him to show the bones. He walks across the crypt and then stands in silent surprise. He says that they have gone. After that John Mason leaves them. After that Holmes makes a very careful examination of the coffins. Some hours passes before he comes to a coffin standing beside the entrance to the crypt. He seems to be satisfied with his results. Suddenly he hears that someone is walking in the church above. A few seconds later a man comes in.

This story is about mates,who decide to act out Emma Smith.
It is dull at the Pebblesea. Mr. Frederick Dix, mate of the Starfish returnes to the harbour. He decides to go to his ship and have a good sleep.
The skipper and the sailor are still ashore. After that Mr. Dix changes his mind. It is almost dark and he decides to walk round the harbour. The/IT IS hardly TO sees the only other man on the quay. This man is standing at the edge of the quay, looking at the water. The young man's name is Arthur Heard. He has an unrequited love with Emma Smith. The girl refused his offer of marriage.And now he is going to commit suicide. After that they talk about Emma. They come to conclusion that Emma is very fond of gossiping. The mate says that she will make this poor man a laughing-stock. Suddenly THE men offer to act out his bride. Firstly he hesitates but then agrees.
