Hi Tom
Thanks for your letter.
I have read your letter and I will answer your questions with pleasure.
First of all I would like to tell you why success is very important to me. I consider that success is a big part of our future and can influence the whole life. Can we become a prominent person or noT dependS on our success.
I am/DO not agree that success meanS the same as happiness. However I think that success is a part of happiness. Happiness consistS of wealth, health, A good job, nice family and success as a part. Moreover I know people who are successful but have NO happiness.
In order to be successful in the future I am studying and preparing for exams. I hope I will enter the university happily. But our success dependS not only ON our studying. Reading books and articles, traveLling, researching and OTHER ACTIVITIES help our success as well.
Drop me a line and let me know WHAT YOU DO TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

You’ve received a letter from your English pen-friend in which he/she asks you about the Olympic Games.
Write him / her a reply letter (100 words) answering his / her questions:

• Are the Olympic Games popular with people in your country and why?

• Talk about the famous Ukrainian sportsmen.

• Say what people should do to become the Olympic champions.

Hi Mike
Thanks for your letter.
I am not fond of sport games but I hope that I may answer your questions.
I do not consider/THINK that Olympic Games ARE very popular in my country because the Olympic Games have never taken place in Ukraine but I think that our people like to watch them ON TV. Our country has not a lot of sport complexes and other sport places so there WERE not/NO Olympic Games.
However our country has LOTS OF famous sportsmen. There are LOADS OF sportsmen in different kinds of sport but the most renowned people are Andri Shevchenko, brothers Klitschko, Anna BesSonova, SerHII BUbka. Many of them are the Olympic champions.
To my mind not everyone can become the Olympic champion. These people are very hardworking and they have the main target - to win. If A person wants to become the champion he OR SHE has to train and train again but I am not sure that only this. It dependS on A person.
Drop me a line and let me know how the Olympic Games took place in YOUR country.
All the best

Dear mum.
Sorry I HAVEN'T written for so long.

I am writing you in the center of Great Britain now and it is wonderful TO have been already living here for two weeks almost in the historical center of London. My house is situated the Baker Street so I can go to the house of Sherloc Holmes every day and it is fantastic. He is said TO return to his house once a week. But unfortunately it is fantastic. My house has 3 floors and a host family HAS GIVEN me one big room with THE bathroom. There is a big bed with loads of pillows, a large mirror and a window. I like to read near the window and look AT THE breathtaking view of London.
My host family consist of WOMAN, man and their son. Their son is 12. As for me they are smart and intelligent. Moreover they have AN incredible library in their house with different kinds of books. Every weekend they go to the Globe theater and after that go to a cozy restaurant.
When I have free time between my studying I usually go to Hyde Park or to Oxford street. I AM fond of doing my homework in the park or shopping and buying awesome clothes IN Oxford street. Also I sometimes take excursions around the city.

You have just visited the Art Exhibition in the city where you live.
  • the place where the exhibition is held
  • the artworks which are exhibited
  • your point of view on the best works

Hi Mike
I hope you'RE OK.
To begin with, some days ago I visited the Art Exhibition in my city. I was very exCited and surprised by that creative artworks. I would like to go to such events more.
The exhibition took place in the museum of Art in the center of my city. It'S a huge and grand build which IS situated in Volodumurska street. As I know it was built in the 20th century.
That museum has own artworks but pictures of modern painterS were being represented there for three days. There were some works of classic painterS such as MUrashko or AIVAZOVSKY, but most works of THE exhibition were created by modern and young artists. There were many critics and journalists who HAD interviewS WITH THE artists.
I was fond of some pictures. As a matter of fact, I didN'T like all works because some of them I didN'T understand AND did not consider THEM REALLY beautiful. However I found some pictures which impressed me. Those were 3 landscapes and 1 portrait. I would'D like TO HAVE THE landscapes IN MY KITCHEN and I wouldN'T mind if I HAD the same portrait.
So I didN'T regret that I SPENT my time ON that exhibition. I hope you have the same exhibition in your city too.
Drop me a line and let me know how such events take place in your city and IF you get satisfaction of going there?
All the best

Your English-speaking friend wants to know about the system of secondary education in Ukraine.
  • how the school year is scheduled

  • what Ukrainian students are like

Hi, Mike!
I hope you are OK. As I understood you would like to know about the system of secondary education in Ukraine, so I will tell you.
A school year consistS of nine months OR two semesters. Pupils have three holidays: three months in summer, one week in October and one week in March. Pupils have A different NUMBER of lessons. For example, children have from four to six lessons and teens have from six to seven lessons.
In my school the students learn three languages, two foreign languages and THE Ukrainian language. But if a pupil studies in mathematical class, he ONLY LEARNS one foreign language - English.
TO MY MIND Ukrainian students like literature, math, history and English MOST OF ALL. But I consider all subjects TO BE interesting and developing.
Drop me a line and let me know about the system of secondary education in England.

Then I went to a bus but he was staying near and looking at my phone. Eventually THE door of the bus closed and I went home.
